Registered Clinical Counsellor and Certified Personal Trainer
Shanthi Jayarajah is a Registered Clinical Counsellor, and a Certified Personal Trainer. She received her Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia in 2009. She also has a certificate in Therapeutic Yoga for Trauma and Resilience. Shanthi has been counselling children, adults, and families for 8 years, and has been working with children and youth in a variety of settings for over 20 years.
Shanthi is passionate about helping people explore their authentic selves, connect with their inner strengths, and use these strengths to create the changes that they desire. She believes people can use strengths and resources to overcome obstacles, and then continue to push themselves to achieve their ambitions. She loves helping clients embrace a growth mindset, view setbacks as opportunities for growth, and continuously strive towards being their best selves.
Shanthi is certain that creating a safe, appreciative, and collaborative atmosphere is paramount in therapy. She works from a person- centered approach, and also draws from a variety of modalities in her work. These include narrative therapy, CBT, mindfulness, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and movement. Shanthi believes that movement and physical activity are excellent tools for grounding, bringing ourselves to the present, and connecting with our authentic power. She is passionate about helping people integrate physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual tools into their lives to achieve holistic wellness.
